For July 4, 2026 please fly a flag and wear patriotic colors
We hope that as you acknowledge the great love for your country by displaying our flag. The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks was the first fraternal organization to observe Flag Day. The President of the United States is authorized and requested to issue annually a proclamation calling upon officials of the Government to display the flag of the United States on all Government buildings on such day.

Flag poem by Audrey Bashlor:
Honor our flag of red, white and blue,
remembering our war heroes brought freedom to you.
Men and women of today and years past
fought with valor so our freedoms would last.
The colonials bravely fought the British redcoats;
our warriors fought the Nazis and their U-boats.
Many wars have been fought through the ages
filling our history books with a great many pages.
So very long ago our independence was declared;
something for over 200 years we have all shared.
Raise the flag, rejoice this day, strike up the band,
people of many races enjoy freedom in this land.
Remember our brave men and women who fought
giving their lives to keep the freedoms we sought.
Give thanks to those in our armed forces today
Respect our flag and to them a “thank you” say.

4 Recent cases DRE under influence affirmed State v Carl
Defendant Debra Carl appealed from her de novo conviction for driving while intoxicated (DWI), N.J.S.A. 39:4-50 after a de novo review by a Law Division judge. She contended her conviction should be vacated because the state violated her right to a speedy trial. She also argued the state failed to prove she was driving "under the influence," asserting prior medical procedures prevented her from performing field sobriety tests and that she had no other physical signs of intoxication—her blood pressure, pulse, and body temperature were all within normal ranges. The Appellate Division affirmed. Unreported Source Daily Briefing - 3/6/26

5 No Body worn camera BWC footage not automatic Suppression State v Rivera
The appeal arose out of the trial court's denial of the defendant's motion to suppress physical evidence, later resulting in his guilty plea and conviction. On appeal, the defendant argued New Brunswick police officers failed to wear their statutorily required body-worn cameras during a stop where they discovered a handgun under defendant's car. The Appellate Division affirmed the lower court. Unreported Source Daily Briefing 3/18/2
